Engagement Coordinator
Founded in 1945, the San Diego County Taxpayers Association seeks a full-time Engagement Coordinator to join our team beginning in November 2018 (potential opportunity for an earlier start date), under the supervision of the Operations Director.
This position requires experience, discretion and the flexibility and agility to juggle multiple competing projects and priorities at any one time, while meeting tight deadlines. Excellent organization, immaculate attention to detail, and written and public interaction skills are required. Occasional nights and weekends may be necessary.
Position Responsibilities
Interfacing and developing relationships with media outlets and reporters as SDCTA’s official media contact
Proactively generating material for media statements, press releases, Op-Eds, social media outreach, and a variety of other media opportunities
Preparing the President & CEO and staff for speaking engagements, meetings with elected officials and community stakeholders, and other events/meetings
Innovating and executing new means of engaging the public with the SDCTA mission and broadening reach
Attending and staffing events on behalf of the Association
Maintaining an awareness of relevant public policy decisions throughout San Diego County and actively seeking opportunities for SDCTA to engage
Developing positive working relationships with nonprofit and business organizations, elected officials and staff, public agency staff, and other community leaders and stakeholders
Preparing SDCTA Officers for public speaking engagements
Sequencing and executing advocacy efforts to maximize the impact of our policy research
Maintaining SDCTA brand as one of the most trusted voices in San Diego
Developing and implementing strategic rollouts for new SDCTA programs and initiatives
Creating and writing event communications content, including program outlines, debate questions, speeches, and scripts
Policy analysis and research support as needed
Event planning and execution support as needed
Membership management support as needed
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Strong interest and curiosity in public policy and discussion in San Diego County
Bachelor's Degree
Strong oral and written communication abilities, team-oriented mindset, and creative problem solver
Ability to work in a fast paced, high stress work environment
Proven relationship building and stakeholder management skills highly preferred
Additional Qualifications
Experience writing for a professional news/media outlet
Relevant coursework in local/municipal politics
Experience with various social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, Linkedin, etc.
Benefits include:
Salary range $45,000 - $55,000 based on experience
