San Diego County Taxpayers Association Releases March 2020 Voter Guide
SAN DIEGO – JANAURY 23, 2020 – Ahead of the March 2020 election, the San Diego County Taxpayers Association (Taxpayers Association), “San Diego’s Taxpayer Watchdog Group” has released its official March 2020 Voter Guide, which details non-partisan, highly-researched information to help citizens educate themselves about what's on their ballot.
“It’s our goal to provide San Diego County taxpayers thoughtful, data-driven analysis allowing every citizen to understand exactly how their vote influences the way their state and local government spends their tax dollars,” said Haney Hong, president and CEO of the San Diego County Taxpayers Association. “The March ballot brings many issues to the table including ballot-box land-use planning, redevelopment, homelessness services, educational improvements and more. We encourage voters utilize our voter guide to make an informed decision at the polls.”
The Taxpayers Association has taken positions on the following:
Measure A – NO
County of San Diego Measure
Requires General Plan Amendments in the County be decided by voters.
The Taxpayers Association has taken a strong stance position against Ballot Box Land-Use Planning.
Measure B – YES
County of San Diego Measure
Affirming the vote of the County Board of Supervisors on the Newland Sierra project.
The Taxpayers Association again reverts to its opposition on Ballot Box Land Use Planning, which was the deciding factor on this measure, not on the merits of the project.
Measure C – YES
City of San Diego Measure
Approving an increase of San Diego’s hotel tax rates by 1.25 to 3.25 percent to fund convention center expansion, modernization promotion and operations, homelessness services and programs and street repairs.
Measure S – NO
City of Lemon Grove Measure.
¾ cent sales tax increase.
Measure L – YES
Cajon Valley Union School District $220 million Bond
Measure M – NO
Chula Vista Elementary School District $300 million Bond
Measure Q – YES
Escondido Union School District $205 Million Bond
Measure R – NO
Lakeside Union School District $33 Million Bond
Measure P – YES
Poway Unified School District $448 Million Bond
Measure T & U – NO
San Ysidro School District $52 Million and $55 Million School Bonds
