SDCTA Supports Proposition 31: Government Performance & Accountability Act
The measure contains a multitude of budgeting and governance reforms for State and local government that could facilitate more efficient governance and to stem potential budget crises. It contains a restructuring of the State budget cycle that prompts more long-term financial planning, a mandate for performance and efficiency reviews of California's various public programs, the inclusion of a safe-guard against political grid-lock, and expands the role of local governments. In the long run, Proposition 31 is likely to increase the return that the citizens of California would see on every tax dollar spent.
